Our Social And Behavioural Insight

  • Despite frustration with local government, pride in the local community is high in both Bouhayra and Minnieh

  • People do not like to feel shamed or judged

  • The digital communications environment is currently a platform for aggressive criticism

  • Local government is not yet fully utilising social media to communicate with residents

  • Lack of trust between local government and residents leads to a diminished communications environment in which rumors and disinformation can thrive

  • When people engage in environmentally protective behaviours, they most often do so for health reasons

Communications Approach

  • Comprehensive SBC strategy and messaging campaign design

  • Engaged local government and community leaders to take ownership of the design process, as well as implementation of the communications strategy and campaign

  • Provided activities for the local governements to engage with a variety of actors, including children, refugees, community based organisations and schools

  • Developed communcations campaigns for each Bouhayra and Minnieh that utilize a variety of media and dissemination mechanisms
